Night Sounds,
Sick Rose Films' first feature film, is now in the latter stages
of post-production. The film was shot in Massachusetts over
two weeks in the towns of
Allston,
Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Charlton, Chelmsford, Mashpee,
and Menden. We spent a total of $2,500 on production, bringing new meaning to the term "shoe-string budget". Night Sounds is unlike anything independent film audiences have ever seen; we
have achieved the look and feel of a mainstream Hollywood film while
maintaining a unique, emotional, character-driven narrative. Night Sounds is a tense, moody thriller with an ending that is guaranteed to make audiences gasp.
Our
story begins with an event partly based on a true news story out of a
college
campus in Boston, where a rogue drug dealer accidentally murders a
college student, leaving his two roommates bound and gagged in the
apartment. We follow these two young men (Jack and Steve) as they
attempt to deal with the tragedy. As witnesses, they are in
danger of being hunted down
by the gang responsible for the murder.
Jack's
father is a hard-edged Boston Cop who insists that the kids lay low
while the police conduct their investigation, but laying low isn't easy
for a couple of college kids. As the pressure builds and the gang
resurfaces, Jack begins to understand that he is in no ordinary danger,
and this gang will stop at nothing to track them down.
Jack's father takes his wife and son out to a family-owned cabin on
Cape Cod in order to keep his son safe, and this secluded location is
the site of one of the most thrilling conclusions you're likely to see
in an independent film this year.
